Which are the signs and symptoms of prediabetes?

So, if you have family members with diabetes (parents, siblings), are overweight or obese, or you are over 35 years old and do not practice any physical activity, ideally, you should ask your doctor for the necessary tests for diagnosis.¹

Unfortunately, years can go by without a single symptom showing until type 2 diabetes is established.¹

It should also be taken into account if you have ever had gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy) or polycystic ovary syndrome, as these are also risk factors for prediabetes.¹

Which are the signs and symptoms of diabetes?

Symptoms of type 2 diabetes often take several years to develop. Because symptoms are hard to spot, it’s important to know the risk factors!

In an advanced stage, diabetes can present the following symptoms²

Hunger and thirst

Unexplained tiredness

Changes in body weight

Increased urination

Vision problems (e.g. blurred vision)

Difficulty in wound healing

Numb or tingling hands or feet

Very dry skin

Wounds that heal slowly

More infections than usual
